As a lover and singer of ghazals, to me the loss of Ahmed Faraz is monumental. He once asked me to sing ‘ranjish hi sahi’ and then commented to the audience, in unparalleled humour, “shakila being bengali, sings better in urdu than i, being a pathan, write in urdu.”
Since then, we did shows together and i had the honour of having Ahmed Faraz explain, select and recite his poetry to me.
May his soul rest in peace.

MAY HIS SOUL REST IN HEAVEN,
HE WAS A GREAT PERSONALIY, AND PAKISTAN HAS LOST ONE MORE PRECIOUS PERSON. BUT THIS IS NATURAL, EVERY ONE HAS TO GO ONE DAY.
