Eight persons have been killed in armed clashes between Hindus and Christians in Indian’s state Orrisa. This
violence started when an eminent Hindu leader, Swami Laxmanananda Sarwasti was killed on Saturday.
A well known human rights organization of US said that the Indian government had failed to protect minorities. In a 37 page report, organization has blamed that Hindu extremist party, BJP is responsible for all these attacks. During these riots, many churches & orphanage of Christians have been burnt despite curfews.
Law enforcement agencies have been trying control this situation to avoid any disturbance. Chief Minister of Orrisa has announced compensation of Rs. 200,000 equivalent to $ 5,000 to the relatives of deceased persons.
