Pentagon issued a statement today that Pakistan’s forces fired on U.S.Firing at US Helipcopters choppers, not NATO. U.S. officials added that these were on their routine operations inside Afghanistan when the incident of firing took place. Pentagon spokesman called it “an unfortunate misunderstanding.” This statement was issued after the incident in which Pakistan’s security forces fired on U.S. helicopters which were found violating Pakistan’s territory.

While on the other hand, Pakistan’s ISPR denied Pentagon’s statement and said that NATO helicopters flew over Pakistan’s check post near Ghulam Khan area which was clear violation of our airspace therefore, our forces fired on U.S. helicopters. NATO helicopters also returned the fire but there was no damage.

President of Pakistan, Asif A. Zardari said after this incident that violation of Pakistan’s territory would not be tolerated.
