(APP): Chairman, Pakistan Cricket Board,(PCB) Ijaz Butt said on Wednesday that banned cricketers will be reconsidered for their selection in Pakistan team if they terminate their contracts with rebel Indian Cricket League (ICL).

“Only way out for them is to first resign and then terminate their contracts with ICL then they can be considered in future for their selection”, he told reporters after the final of national one day cricket tournament here on Wednesday at Gadaffi stadium.

He made it clear that PCB cannot take a decision at its own to allow them to be a part of the national team unless they end their association with the illegal  in a legal manner.

When asked at one stage he stated that Muhammad Yousaf can be selected in the team if he quits ICL,the Chairman PCB said “ situation at that time was different, now we are in an other situation which has its own implications and then there are directives from International Cricket Council regarding ICL “.

“ Playing in a rebel league and then making a come back in the national team are two different issues and we are clear on them because we always follow the rulings and directions of ICC “,he said.

He said ICL has given no objection certificates to nearly 19 Pakistani players who are playing in the league and they have been given the permission to play cricket from any forum or team but at the same time they have been bound to rejoin the league in case if it re-starts again in October this year.

Chairman,PCB said former Pakistan captain, Javed Miandad who has been re-appointed as Director General,PCB will be the DG Cricket development and he will be having no role in adminstration or issues related to financial matters.

“ He has signed the contract according to which he will help assist PCB in the cricket development only “,he said.

He disclosed that PBC has not yet finalised a sponsor for Pak-Australia series to be played from April 22 at off shore venues at Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

“ We have three to four sponsors with whom we are negotiating and we hope to reach an agreement with the most suitable one soon “,he said.

He dispelled an impression that there could be a security threat at these off shore venues when Pak-Australia play five one day international matches and a twenty-20 match.

“ They have the best security there and I dont think that there could be any problem in this regard “,he added.

PCB Chief said due to security concerns international cricket is not taking place in Pakistan and PCB is concentrating on streamlining its domestic cricketer.

“ We will be making best efforts to make our domestic cricket competitive and interesting until international cricket returns to Pakistan in near future “,said Ijaz Butt.
